Extended-length two-core fiber optic drop cable, 2 km continuous length, designed for long-distance FTTH feeds, rural broadband deployments, and campus backbone connections. The longer length reduces the need for field splicing when serving widely spaced homes or connecting remote distribution hubs. The two single-mode fibers (G.657.A1 or A2) are optimized for bend insensitivity, crucial for long rural routes where the cable may navigate around trees, terrain, and existing infrastructure. The UV-resistant PE outer sheath is formulated for decades of outdoor exposure, with carbon black loading for UV blocking and anti-rodent additives in some specifications. The cable includes a steel strength member for high tensile load capacity during long pulls, and dry water-blocking tapes (rather than flooding compound) for cleaner termination. Attenuation is tightly controlled: ≤0.35 dB/km at 1310nm and ≤0.25 dB/km at 1550nm, ensuring that the full 2 km length remains within optical link budgets for GPON (typically 20 km total).
