High-capacity 48-core steel tape armored cable for backbone networks and long-haul buried installations. With 48 single-mode fibers (G.652.D or G.655), this cable supports large PON splits, wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM), and diverse service delivery from a single infrastructure investment. The loose tube construction typically uses 6 tubes with 8 fibers each, or 8 tubes with 6 fibers each, providing flexibility for mass fusion splicing (ribbonizing) or individual fiber splicing. The corrugated steel tape armor provides exceptional rodent resistance and crush protection for direct burial in demanding environments. The cable is flooded with water-blocking compound (thixotropic gel) that prevents water ingress along the entire length, even if the outer sheath is punctured. The black UV-resistant HDPE sheath is formulated for long-term underground and aerial (with messenger) service. This cable is typically deployed as feeder or distribution cable in metropolitan networks, connecting central offices to remote cabinets or fiber distribution hubs.
