Manual Banding Tool

This hand-operated steel strap banding tool is a versatile field companion for securing cables, bundles, and utility poles in locations without electrical power. The integrated tool combines three critical operations—tensioning, sealing, and cutting—in one compact body, reducing the number of tools that must be carried up poles or into remote sites. The manual lever tensioning mechanism uses a ratcheting gear train to apply consistent tension to 12–20mm steel strap, with a maximum tension force determined by lever arm length and operator input. Once the desired tension is achieved, the sealing mechanism crimps a metal seal (notch or crimp type) to lock the strap in place. Finally, the integrated shear cuts the excess strap flush with the seal, leaving no sharp edges. This tool is ideal for field repairs of damaged cable lashes, reinforcing wooden poles with steel straps, bundling multiple cables at mid-span, and emergency utility restorations where speed and simplicity matter.

  • Strap Compatibility: 12–20mm steel strap (0.4–0.8mm thickness)
  • Operation: Manual lever tensioning with compound gearing (mechanical advantage ~15:1)
  • Seal Type: Crimp (single or double notch) — works with pre-formed metal seals
  • Weight: 1.5–2.5 kg (3.3–5.5 lbs) — manageable for climbing belt attachment
  • Cutting: Integrated shear with hardened steel blades (replaceable)
  • Tension Range: Adjustable via tension dial or lever stop (100–600 kg typical)
  • Construction: Cast aluminum body with steel wear plates
  • Seal Magazine: Holds 5–10 seals for continuous operation
